Сидела я в пятницу и думала «Чем же порадовать моих любимых читателей в следующий понедельник (т.е. сегодня)?». А Facebook подсказал, что есть здесь одна певица, которая вот-вот выпустила новый клип (впервые за последние 3 года). Grammar:
Когда студенты видят громоздкие списки of the verbs followed by gerund and infinitive, то смущенно спрашивают, что с этим счастьем делать. Я советую слушать больше песен, ведь у lyrics всегда есть немного verb patterns и эта песня не включение. Infinitive:

• You'd like to meet, to go over everything → Use infinitive after would like (I would like to invite you to my Birthday paty)
• They say that time's supposed to heal ya → Use infinitive after suppose (Mike was supposed to call us)
• I must've called a thousand times to tell you  → Use infinitive to show purpose(I went to the kitchen (Why?) to take some bread)
• But when I call you never seem to be home → Use infinitive after seem (John seems to be nice, but I still wouldn’t trust him)
• At least I can say that I've tried to tell you→ Use infinitive after try to say that you make an attempt (I tried to open the door, but it was locked)
• It's so typical of me to talk about myself→ Use infinitive after particular adjectives (It was so nice of you to help us)

Gerund:

• I'm sorry, for breaking your heart → Use gerund after prepositions (Helen is good at cooking)

Used to:

• I'm in California dreaming about who we used to be → Use used to + infinitive to talk about past habits and states which are no longer true (I used to smoke when I was 17, but now I have a healthy lifestyle now)

Modals:
I must've called a thousand times to tell you → must + have + V3/Ved is used when we feel sure about something in the past. То есть в этом случае Адель уверена, что она ему уже тысячу раз позвонила.

Vocabulary
Phrasal verbs:

• Tear apart – hurt; cause pain (The death of her hamster tore her apart.)
• Run out of – to finish, use, or sell all of something, so that there is none left (We've run out of milk so I’ll go to the shop.
