Чомусь мені згадалося, що через півтора місяці в Швеції пройде Євробачення-2016. Чесно кажучи, я поки не спромоглася ознайомитися зі списком учасників і їх піснями, але пропоную згадати торішнього переможця Måns Zelmerlöw і його пісню Heroes.

Вже не в перший раз звертаю увагу, що тексти пісень з Євробачення досить примітивні в плані граматики. Але все одно ми щось знайдемо в цій пісні, що можна буде розібрати.

Imperative structure:

• Don’t tell  the gods I left a mess
• He said go dry your eyes
• And live your life like there is no tomorrow, son
• And tell the others
• Now go sing it like a hummingbird
• Don’t say  a word, do not make a sound

да-да, в цих реченях немає підмета, але в цьому то й фішка imperative structures) Реченя такого типу використовуються для того, щоб спонукати когось до дії.

Present Simple:

• The crickets sing a song for you
• I make worms turn into butterflies

Трішечки теперішнього часу, яке вказує нам на дії що відбуваються регулярно.

Past Simple:

Modals:

• I can’t can not undo what has been done

Ще є маленькі приклади модальних дієслів. У модального дієслова can є безліч функцій, але в даному випадку йде мова про ability.

Vocabulary:

• fire off - to fire a shot from a gun (They fired off several shots to frighten us.)
• hummingbird - a very small, brightly coloured bird with a long, thin beak, whose wings move very fast and make a humming noise
• crickets - an insect that jumps and makes a noise by rubbing its wings together
• anthem - a song chosen by a country or organization to be sung on special occasions (The anthem of Great Britain is "God save the Queen")
• appreciation - an understanding of how good something or someone is so that you are able to enjoy them (Her appreciation of wine increased as she grew older.)
