GRAMMAR
Пісня, як прийнято у Еда, про любов, і сповнена надзвичайною кількістю цікавих конструкцій. Це чудова нагода ще раз нагадати собі, що носії мови в курсі всіх «супер дивних» граматичних тем, які ви вивчаєте на заняттях :)

Past Simple
«I told her my name and said, "It's nice to meet ya"

«Я назвав їй своє ім’я і сказав "Приємно познайомитись"
Потім вона простягнула мені пляшку води наповнену текілою»

Хочеться звернути увагу конкретно на цей приклад, адже він чудово ілюструє правило, яке говорить, що ми маємо використовувати Past Simple, коли говоримо про a series of completed actions. В даному випадку неважливо, яка з дій була першою, адже ми, простими словами, розказуємо історію.

I Wish
«We wish they would disappear» - 
«Ми би хотіли, щоб всі вони зникли»

Ми часто використовуємо конструкцію I wish, коли говоримо про ті речі в теперішньому або минулому, які хотіли би змінити. Так конструкцію I wish + would слід використовувати тільки у випадках, коли ви вказуєте на речі, які хотіли б змінити в інших людях чи речах.

First Conditional

«If you feel you're falling, won't you let me know?»
«Якщо ти відчуєш, що закохуєшся, ти повідомиш мене?»

«If you love me, come on, get involved»
«Якщо ти любиш мене, долучайся»

Ви ж знаєте, де є if, там і умовні речення. Перший тип цих речень потрібен нам у випадках, коли говоримо про реальні події в майбутньому, які можуть чи мають відбутися за якоїсь умови.

Expressions with Modal Meaning

«I don't really know what I'm supposed to say»
«Я насправді не знаю, що я повинен сказати»

«I'm meant to drive home but I've drunk all of it now»
«Я мав би їхати додому, але я все випив»

Використовуємо be supposed to, щоб говорити про щось, що ви мали б зробити відповідно до правил чи вимог. Be meant to підійде для тих дій, які бажано зробити, або які від вас очікують.
