І знову hello! Як ваші заняття? Do you like them?
Хотіла написати про present simple, але зрозуміла, що про нього вже все докладно написано прямо у нас на сайті.
Читали ось це? Ні? Значить почитайте.
А я вам розповім продовження цього гарного tense: Adverbs of frequency
А для розігріву давайте спробуємо це завдання. Потрібно говорити колір !!! а не слово, яке написано.
So the first one is green, the second one is red and so on. You continue!
How often did you make mistakes? Very often? Seldom?
What can we answer to a question який починається зі слів "how often .."?
А ось що ми можемо відповісти:
How often do you…? |

50% |
sometimes |
30% |

Тобто always = 100% (завжди). Usually – це зазвичай, вже не 100%, але все одно. Frequently, often – часто. Sometimes, occasionally – іноді, вже 50%, а rarely and seldom – взагалі рідко. Hardly ever – майже ніколи, ну а never = 0%, ніколи. Називають ці слова adverbs of frequency – прислівники частоти, тобто прислівники, які показують наскільки часто ми що-небудь робимо.
For example:
I sometimes eat pizza at the weekend.
Де у нас тут стоїть "sometimes"? До або після основного дієслова?
After that, I am always happy. So I look like this:
Де у нас тут стоїть adverb of frequency? ДО або ПІСЛЯ дієслова?
There is one thing you should remember. Якщо у нас в present simple sentence звичайне дієслово (play, love, eat), то ми adverb of frequency ставимо ПЕРЕД основним дієсловом:
• I usually have breakfast at nine.
• He sometimes goes shopping on Sundays.
• They never drive to work.
Ну а якщо у нас дієслово TO BE, то ми adverb of frequency ставимо ПІСЛЯ цього самого to be.
• She is always happy.
• They are sometimes at this office on Mondays.
• I am never angry!

Please answer these questions:
- How often do you eat fast food?
- How often do you go to the gym or work out?
- How often do you get drunk?
- How often do you do your English homework?
- How often do your read this blog?
And here is some of this information all put together in a nice video:
Також є така штука як adverbs of probability. Вони показують, з якою ймовірністю щось є правдою. Наприклад, якщо я скажу I will definitely call you, то це означає, що я точно-точно подзвоню. Ну а якщо я скажу, що I will probably call you, то це вже не 100% обіцянку.
Ось які бувають ці adverbs of possibility and probability: definitely, perhaps, certainly, possibly тощо.
Ось як ми їх використовуємо:
maybe and perhaps зазвичай ставлять на початку речення:
- Perhaps the weather will be fine.
- Maybe it won’t rain.
Решта adverbs ми ставимо перед основним дієсловом в реченні (але після допоміжного дієслова). У прикладах дієслово підкреслене:
- He is certainly coming to the party.
- Will they definitely be there?
- We will possibly come to England next year.
Ми можемо використовувати adverbs of probability to talk про те, що може статися в майбутньому.
- 99% - definitely, certainly
- 75% – probably
- 50 %– perhaps, maybe (perhaps and maybe – in the beginning!)
- 25% – probably not
- 0% – definitely not, certainly not
Ось яка форма у future possibility:
Subject + adverb + won’t + verb
Зауважимо, що ми ставимо adverb після will, але ДО will not. (Will not).
Here are some examples:
- I will certainly go to the seaside next summer.
- He probably won’t pass his test.
- Perhaps, I will move to New York.
Also, ми можемо використовувати MAY и MIGHT вместо WILL.
- May = will probably (75%)
- Might = will possibly (50%) = maybe, will
Тобто ми можемо сказати так:
1. I will probably go there = I may go there. Цу одне й те ж.
2. I will possibly join that gym = I might join the gym.
Don’t forget: коли ми use may or might нам WILL не потрібен!
Ну звичайно ж practice makes perfect, so here are some exercises for you:
1. Rewrite the sentences
2. Choose the correct answer
Good luck with your adverbs! =)
See you next time!
