December is that time of the year. It gets cold and quite unpleasant to go outside. So what can cheer one up better than Christmas season? Christmas lights and trees can be seen everywhere. Rockefeller Center is a complex of 19 commercial buildings covering space between 48th and 51st streets in New York City. Built by the Rockefeller family, it is located in the center of Midtown Manhattan. The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is a world-wide symbol of the holidays in New York City.

Christmas lights are lights used for decoration around Christmas. The custom goes back to the use of candles to decorate the Christmas tree in upper-class homes in 18th-century Germany. Christmas trees displayed publicly and illuminated with electric lights became popular in the early 20th century. By the mid-20th century, it became customary to display strings of electric lights as along streets and on buildings Christmas decorations detached from the Christmas tree itself. In the United States, it became popular to outline private homes with such Christmas lights.

A duplex house is a dwelling having apartments with separate entrances for two households. This includes two-story houses having a complete apartment on each floor and also side-by-side apartments on a single lot that share a common wall.

Today we continue talking about definite article ‘the’. We know that we usually don’t use ‘the’ with proper names. But we can see the Weavers in this sentence. Why? 
We can use definite article ‘the’ with family names in plural when we refer to the whole family. 
So when we say the Weavers we mean the whole family of Mr. Weaver. 
Some other examples you might be familiar with are well-known cartoon “The Simpsons” and a movie “We are the Millers” 
We also can use definite article ‘the’ with a name of a specific person, when we need to say that this person is the one, some specific person we heard about. For example: 
Hallo, I’m Edward. – The Edward?
This is the Mary I told you about. 

Сегодня продолжим говорить про определенный артикль "the". Мы знаем, что обычно "the" не используется с именами. Но мы также видим the Weavers в этом предложении. Почему?
Мы используем определенный артикль "the" с фамилией во множественном числе, когда говорим о всей семье. Так что когда мы видим the Weavers, мы имеем в виду всю семью Mr. Weaver.
