Привіт, друзі! Сьогодні знову понеділок, тому на вас чекає чергова пісня! Зразу ж хочу вибачитися перед представниками сильної статті, бо пісня сьогодні дуже дівчача! Але граматика в ній, як завжди, корисна. Тож поїхали!

Grammar:

Подивіться уважно на виділені слова:

• You know the bed feels warmer
• What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
• Stand a little taller
• Footsteps even lighter

Всі вони мають однакове закінчення –er. До того ж всі вони adjectives (прикметники), ще й не прості, а comparative adjectives.
Для того, щоб щось порівняти в англійській мові, до прикметника треба додати закінчення –er, або приставку more, якщо прикметник довгий (e.g. more beautiful).
Якщо ж ми хочемо сказати, що щось чи хтось – най-най (вищий/кращий/щасливіший), то ми додаємо закінчення -est , чи приставку the most.   
 
warm → warmer → the warmest
strong → stronger → the strongest
tall → taller → the tallest 
light → lighter → the lightest

А ще є деякі винятки:

Ще в цій пісні можна знайти часи групи Simple та Continuous:

• You know the bed feels warmer.
• Bet you think that everything good is gone.
• Baby, you don't know me, 'cause you're dead wrong.

Це були приклади нашого улюбленого Present Simple. Ця пісня спонукає нас не забувати, що в negative sentences нам потрібні допоміжні дієслова don’t після I/you/we/they  та doesn’t після he/she/it.

А ось і приклади з Past Simple та Past Continuous:

• You heard that I was starting over with someone new.
• They told you I was moving on, over you.
• You didn't think that I'd come back.
• You tried to break me, but you see.

Про Past Simple було вже сказано багато в попередніх піснях. А Past Continuous ми вживаємо, що кажемо, що якась дія була в процесі в якийсь момент в минулому.  

Vocabulary
Phrasal verbs and idioms:

• break down - to be unable to control your feelings and to start to cry (When Helen broke up with her boyfriend, she broke down and cried.)
• dead wrong - completely wrong. (I'm sorry. I was dead wrong.)
• start over - to begin to do something again, sometimes in a different way. (We decided to forget all the old stuff  and  start over.)
