My Notes becomes Smarte+ with even more possibilities for learning English

Smarte /ˈsmɑːr.ti/ is an EdTech interactive platform developed by the English language school Green Forest to make learning and teaching English easier and more enjoyable. Our online platform combines more than 30 types of interactive tasks and allows users to easily create and edit their own textbooks and personalized lessons. So, what is Smarte+? It’s a part of the platform designed specifically for students. In essence, it’s a set of tools that help learners personalize their study process and focus on what needs the most attention. As of now, Smarte+ offers three distinct services: My Vocabulary, My Notepad, Extra Practice.

My Vocabulary

This service includes two parts: My List and Study Sets.

Study Sets are standard vocabulary lists offered in each lesson of your Communication Block. You only have access to the Study Sets for your current level. Each set can be studied separately. You can also add individual words or the entire set to My List — just click the star next to a word, or use the button that adds all the words at once. You can view the set either as a list or as flashcards.

My List is a custom vocabulary set you create yourself — there’s no limit to the number of words you can add. How do words get there? You can choose them from Study Sets of your level or below, pick them straight from your textbook (any word in the book can be added!), or even enter a word manually. When adding manually, My Notes will offer several definitions to choose from (or you can skip that and just add the word). You can also add your own translation or explanation. Words in My List are shown in chronological order, with the newest ones on top.

You can also use flashcards to memorize words from My List. My Notes will automatically generate 20 cards with your most recent words, or offer you the next 20 to study. Learned a word? Great — you can mark it as “I know” and move it to a separate list. If you forget it later, no worries — you can easily bring it back into your study list.

By the way, while the Study Sets linked to your textbooks will change as you move from one level to another, your My List stays with you forever.

In My Vocabulary, you can also practice words through several interactive exercises: Match, Choose, Spell. 

• The “Match” Exercise

In this activity, you need to match a word with its correct translation or definition. If you get it right, the pair disappears from the screen. You can also use Match to study words from your My List — the system will randomly select 20 words from your list for practice. A great way to keep your memory sharp, don’t you think?

• The “Choose” Exercise

This task comes in two variations: either you guess the word based on a given definition, or you match a word to the correct definition. In both cases, you choose from three possible options.

• The “Spell” Exercise

Another great practice tool — a spelling trainer! You can choose any vocabulary set from your level or use your personal set. Then pick your training mode: Easy, Medium, or Hard. The number of missing letters in the words will depend on the difficulty level you choose. You can switch levels anytime during the exercise.

All exercises provide instant feedback — correct answers are highlighted in green, while incorrect ones appear in red, so you can immediately spot and reflect on your mistakes.

And there’s more to come! We’re actively working on gamifying Smarte+ and will soon release several exciting new features — including fun games for better vocabulary retention, a rewards system with badges and bonuses to boost motivation, and personalized recommendations based on your common mistakes and learning strengths.

My Notepad

This section is your personal student notebook. You can create and edit text notes, as well as add photos and files. But the most exciting part? You can save materials directly from your textbooks — and even add your own comments or edits to them!

Just look for the star icon after certain exercises and click it to save the content to your Notepad. These stars appear after reading texts, grammar explanations, Functional Language sections, and writing tasks.

The best part? Your saved notes will stay with you even after your course ends, when access to the textbooks is no longer available. So don’t hesitate to collect anything you find useful or inspiring — and keep it forever.

Extra Practice

This section has been carefully planned and developed over time. A dedicated team of teachers works on updating and expanding its content every month. The goal is to give you extra practice with grammar right now — and soon, you’ll also get additional tasks for vocabulary and Functional Language.

How it works:

1. Go to My Notes and open the third tab from the top — Extra Practice.
2. Choose your training settings: level, grammar (selected automatically), topic(s), and types of exercises (optional). Then click Start Practice.
3. Complete the exercises and check your answers.
4. If you’re not happy with the results — just tweak the settings and start again.

What you should know:

• You have access to all levels, so you can do exercises from other levels or select adjacent ones (note: you can’t choose A1 and B1 at the same time).
• Each time you change settings and hit Start Practice, the tasks get shuffled, so the order is always fresh.
• The exercises are auto-checked, but your results are not saved, so you can repeat them as many times as you want.
• You’ll only have access to the full exercise database while your textbook access is active — during your course and for a few weeks after.
• You’ve never seen this many exercises in one place before!

We’ve also added linked tags that connect Extra Practice exercises directly to the main textbook. So if a student is working on a task in the coursebook and feels they need more practice, they’ll see a “More Practice” button. One click — and Smarte+ redirects them to a themed set of exercises at the same level. This is one of the most loved features by both students and teachers because it provides instant support exactly when it’s needed.
