Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 is a scheduled flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing, China. On 8 March 2014, the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200ER operating the flight disappeared with 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board. The cause remains unknown.

South China Sea - is a part of the Pacific Ocean, located between China, Indochina peninsula, the islands of Borneo, the Philippines and Taiwan; around 3,500,000 square km, up to 5560m deep; numerous islands and coral reefs; typhoons; holds huge oil and gas reserves beneath its seabed.

And now replace the highlighted phrases in the following sentences by the ones we learnt. If you have difficulties with the task, try watching and inserting necessary phrases at the same time.

May have turned is an example of Past Modals, that are used to speculate about events in the past.
This past modal one is used to guess about different explanations of some events. Usually when we use may have V3, we don’t know what happened and try to assume possible course of events.  
We also can use could or might to replace may without change in meaning.

May have turned – это пример Past Modals, используемых для обсуждения событий в прошлом. Этот past modal используется, чтобы высказать догадки о различных объяснениях событий. Обычно когда мы используем may have V3, мы не знаем, что случилось, и пытаемся делать предположение о возможном ходе событий. So far, the investigators have not ruled anything out, they haven’t ruled out hijacking.

So far has nothing to do with the distance in this case. It refers to a moment in time, particularly up to and including right now. It is placed at the beginning or the ending of the sentence.

• I haven’t seen a better movie so far.
