Dcussion Club Diary. Do you donate to beggars?
DC Diary Discussion Club Leader Dcussion Club Diary. Do you donate to beggars? 2010.03.05 22:44 Do you give to beggars? Or do you think all those homeless people are just good actors? Is there a proper way to donate? Last time we were trying to answer all this questions and I cannot say we haven’t been success. When you see a beggar you usually donate if you believe that this person really needs money. If a beggar seems to be an alcoholic or just a “down and out” that is making money begging, you will probably pass away. But how can you tell the difference? There are still compassionate people who want help a down and out soul and who believe beggars should be given food, shelter and clothing. Such people tend to donate without thinking if this is a real person in need or a swindler. We also discussed the The UK Government's new Change A Life campaign. The campaign involves asking the public to donate money and time to charities rather than giving cash to street beggars. The Rough Sleepers Unit, set up by the government to get people off the streets, have found that giving money to beggars may fuel drug and alcohol addiction. Although not all people in UK are agree with this campaign we found it quite reasonable. Some of us expressed such opinion that all people should work! Anyone can find a job and earn money. So, don't give them any money. You'd be surprised how quickly they find jobs to support themselves or their habit. ![]() Another people thought that rather than give cash to street beggars, we should donate to the special organizations that provide appropriate support to such people. This is a better way of directing the essentials of food and accommodation to the homeless. And I also liked the idea to listen to your intuition and your heart. There are different situations and we can not judge in general. There are people who are in desperate situation and there are filchers who are doing their business such way. So we have to solve two different problems at the same time: to provide our support to people who really need it and to deliver our society from fake panhandle. It was great pleasure for me to see my college Zhora at our meeting, who actually have become the most talkative and active participant according to voting. Next time we will talk about gays. The term gay was originally used, until well into the mid-20th century, primarily to refer to feelings of being "carefree", "happy", or "bright and showy"; it had also come to acquire some connotations of "immorality" as early as 1637. The term later began to be used in reference to homosexuality, in particular, from the early 20th century, a usage that may have dated prior to the 19th century.[1] In modern English, gay has come to be used as an adjective, and occasionally as a noun, that refers to the people, practices, and culture associated with homosexuality. By the end of the 20th century the word gay was recommended by major style guides to describe people attracted to members of the same sex.
